Khulekani Cele was born in KwaZulu-Natal at Mpumalanga Town Ship, South Africa in 1993. Cele has an Honours Degree in Visual Art. He has always recognized his need to be creative and to pursue this as a profession. After his matriculation in 2011 he studied the basics of painting, drawing and linocut in a group called Velobala in 2012, funded by the African Art Centre and the Durban University of Technology. Cele has participated in more than 10 group exhibitions. In 2016 he was selected as part of the top 100 SASOL New Signatures Art Competition, and he was the semi-finalist in the SA Taxi Foundation Art Award. His work is part of the ArtBank collection for 2018. In 2020 he was in the art residency in Germany. Cele is currently lives and works in Durban.
